Ready for Fall * Guest Post *

Guest Post by Ryann of Twig & Belle

I know this won't be a popular sentiment. But I'm ready for fall. The heat, the stickiness, the way my legs stick to the leather of my car seat, I'm over it. Over summer. I can hardly believe it myself. But I love fall, the colors and the smoky smells, and back to school excitation. I'm ready.
In preparation I've been gathering ideas for fall decor. I'm planning on cozy-fying my bedroom. Here's what I've been looking at so far:

I love the layering of textiles and the unusual objects.

Got to love this interior from Ralph Lauren. Plaid and leopard print? Yes please

Leather tufted sofa, a mannequin wearing a fencing mask and lots of potted plants. I could hole up in this room until winter was over.

This is actually the interior of the living room from the Sherlock Holmes movie. I like the big faded Persian rug, stacks of books and lazy luxury of it.
Using these as inspiration I made this mood board:

Wallace Plaid Blanket $89 @thescottishweaver. Butterfly Poster $24 @urbanoutfitters. Deer Head Hook $22 @anthropologie. Deer Fiber Wall Art $69 @urbanoutfitters. Faux Mink Throw $59 @zgallerie. Antique Persian Rug=Auction. Globe and Wernicke Bookcase=Auction $300-$500.

I'd love to have a bedroom like this, with a cozy gentlemen's club sort of feel. I'd make a cup of tea and curl up with a good book (maybe Sherlock Holmes) and never leave!

However......
This wouldn't be too bad either....

 Just saying....

Tulip Time!

Come visit our Holland store and experience Tulip Time. Make a weekend out of it!

From the Tulip Time website:

Welcome to the Tulip Time Festival! Since 1929, the small city of Holland, Michigan has blossomed with literally hundreds of thousands of tulips — and an equal number of tulip-lovers who attend our annual Tulip Time Festival.

In 2011, we celebrated the bicentennial anniversary of the birth of the founder of Holland, Michigan: Reverend Albertus C. Van Raalte, who led his congregation of Dutch Calvinists in founding our city in 1847. To commemorate his birth, a Bilateral Conference took place in Holland, Michigan and the Netherlands in the fall of 2011. For more information, visit www.dutchheritagewestmichigan.com.

Like most celebrations, the Tulip Time Festival started as a relatively small event, which was proposed by Miss Lida Rogers, a high school biology teacher. In 1927, Miss Rogers presented the idea of commemorating Holland’s Dutch heritage, history and culture to the Women’s Literary Club. Her proposal was accepted, and in 1929, the City of Holland planted its first crop of 100,000 tulips. The overwhelming number of visitors to our small town resulted in the community’s decision to repeat the event. As thousands of spectators soared to hundreds of thousands, the celebration lengthened by days, and pageantry, costumes and parades and the popular Dutch Dancers were added to produce a week-long festival that is now over 80 years old

Let's Go Camping!

I'm ready for it- I want to get out and go camping, hiking, kayaking, to the beach, etc. You know, the things people down south can do all year long without freezing. Although it isn't even May yet, I don't think it is too early to get out there (just bring some extra layers). If you are anything like me, though, you may romanticize what real camping looks like- you know, where everybody and everything looks like it is out of a magazine (adorable dog in toe, perfectly prepared meal, beautiful hair, lovely company). But in reality there are bugs, your hair is a mess, you are tired from setting up camp all day, etc. Although FOUND cannot guarantee you a picture-perfect camping trip, we can definitely make sure what you bring is fun/cute/vintage- at least your pictures/Instragram will make it look like you are in a catalog. Let us help you get ready for your first camping trip- we have coolers, thermoses, jugs, blankets, and more! Check out the pictures below and start planning your trip!

Eight Oaks Terrariums

yea! Terrariums by eight oaks terrariums are here!

locally made and grown - sold at FOUND!

visit more about eight oaks terrariums at their facebook and blog.

here are a few simple FAQ

ok so here is a little info to help you answer people's questions about the terrariums:

Q: Are they hard to care for?
A: NO! Easier than a normal houseplant

Q: Do they need water?
A: A little spritz of water about once a week or so, sometimes even less than that! (I have one on my desk at work that I haven't watered in 2 months)

Q: What kind of light do they need?
A: A North facing window is ideal, but indirect sun is what it needs. So a coffee table in a bright room out of the direct rays of the sun is great, next to a window out of the sun is great too!

Q: Do I need to do anything to the plants?
A: if it is just moss - nope, if there are other plants, remove dead leaves and trim it with a scissors if you think they are getting too unruly in there.

Q: how long to they last?
A: they should last as long as any other houseplant.

Q: This open succulent one, what do I need to do to care for it?
A: It needs a little more water about once every 10 days, and full/direct sun.

Q: Will buying a terrarium make me cooler?
A: Totally!

baby mama drama

i'm 25. and my first close friend is having a baby.

naturally i called throwing the friend shower.

last night we found out it was going to be a girl. which is strange because for some reason i had a gut feeling that it was a boy (note to self: don't always go with gut instinct) lol.

now that i know it's going to be pink not blue (and probably sometime around july) i started looking for inspiration.

let me know your thoughts (and if you have any other great ideas!)
