treasure hunters

this past saturday my little friend kelley and i traveled across the back roads of america (okay yea i stole that line from american pickers) (and i call her my little friend kelley because that is the name a nice old man gave her at an antique show we did this fall).

anyway

we traveled across the back roads of michigan to find goodies for the store. we were very successful. it was a gorgeous day, the roads were clear, the sun was out and we met many interesting fun people.

we met up at panera bread to get muffins and coffee ( a must on a long scouting day) and headed south. we were in the car about 2 hours and got lots of ideas out (watch out for our valentine open house!)

we had one rule. we can only keep one thing for ourselves. well that rule lasted like 3 seconds. i collected pairs of silhouettes for my bedroom. the men go on my husbands side of the bed and the ladies go on mine. i have quite the little collage going on. i also found a vintage trophy cup that i plan on using for a vase as well as an old hotel sign that says "sleeping rooms" that will go upstairs by the bedrooms. i'll post pictures on my personal blog this afternoon.

kelley did pretty good on the rule she found an awesome velvet green pillow with dogs embroidered on it.

Industrial Inspiration 1/20/2012

One fabulous and functional industrial piece is the vintage locker basket. They can be used for multiple storage and display options. They really don't make them like this anymore, do they? Wow, I sound old when I say that, but it's true! Use these in your kitchen, office, bedroom, bathroom for an industrial chic look. How are you using your locker baskets?

it is that kind of day.

i put a sign on the door that said. "emergancy, needed coffee brb"

it was true. watching the snow fall and the temperature drop has put me in a cozy mood and i (abby) had stuff to do around here today! (in holland).

i moved around and re organized my clothing. measured some tables that i might buy myself because i have been working like crazy on my own house i also had some items to price and new vintage to steam.

re wind to before i did all this.

i sat down by the heater and couldn't get up. hence the emergancy coffee break.

i ran to Lemonjellos and got a white chocolate mocha (hey, the milk was non fat) and a chocolate chip cookie. again, the milk was non fat that has to count for something. plus i only had half the cookie.

sorry not the point of this story.

once i had a little coffee in me i was ready to go! i cleaned a bit and did my tasks above and now i am finishing up the day with this blog post and some pictures of new items.

we here at found have a full week planned! last week we re merchandised the store out in Holland which includes many new treasures. dressers, end tables, books, beds, and more!

thursday night we are re merchandising grand rapids. we are going to have an awesome unique valentines theme with plenty of home, clothing and gift ideas for a perfect february 14.
