does that inspire you?

it's always so refreshing to have a burst of creative energy here at FOUND. after what seems like such a long winter we have finally had a warm weekend! and it seems like everyone coming to see us is excited to get ready for summer and looking to change things up a bit.
 
when a client comes to me looking for design ideas  it seems i so often am inspired by details in fashion. and once we pick fabric and paint i can see the same elements in the clothing and accessories they are wearing.

design to me is creating an environment that inspires you visually yet is comfortable to live in.

as i look around FOUND at all the fab vintage dresses and jewelry from our new partner, Cotton Dress, i see so many examples of design and fashion combined .

what do you love the most?

sipping my morning coffee listening to the rain tap on my window I was reading one of my favorite inspiration blogs (Design Sponge) they posed the question "what i love most about my home"

i gave this alot of thought because to be honest, when we bought this house.. i cried. my husband and i had house hunted for months and months and came across a little blue house...that was in foreclosure. my husband, being the analytical account type in our relationship saw this as a great deal and so we bought the house. then i went into the torn up, stinky bathroom and cried (i couldn't let him see). the house was in less than desirable condition but with two years, a ton of work, and a lot of love our house became a home.

so what do i love most about my home...i think it has to be my husband and i's collection of finds throughout the two years of restorations. we are not serious collectors by any stretch of the imagination but we buy what we love and find beautiful. our little displays in our house showcase great stories and memories we created together.

does that inspire you?

today i was reading an article in Town & Country magazine titled "You Send Me". the article dissected the high tech, fast pace, answer me now world that we live in.

and that's when i thought to myself...we walk around with our heads down thumbing through our phones and missing the nature and possible inspiration around us.

so many times i turn to the web to find my daily inspiration, i forget that even web inspiration comes from some place tangible and natural.

i decided to get off of my couch and away from watching Sex and the City re-runs to go  for a walk with my dogs and soak up the sunset, brisk spring wind, even the yucky worms on the sidewalk.

there are so many signs of spring all around... Michigan may just trick me in to thinking that it actually might come.

a fresh start

The snow is melting the temperature is (slowly) rising and spring is on the brink of breaking into downtown Holland. spring signifies change, new life and a fresh start.

here at FOUND we are rapidly approaching our two year anniversary. two years! this we could not have done with all of the wonderful support from our friends, family, and faithful customers. to this we say THANK YOU.

in anticipation of our anniversary we have made a few changes around the shop. we have remodeled, brought out the spring goods and have integrated a new brand around the shop.
